KADOI SKOYPIDIA

They are very modern in Epirus, but until they arrive there is a need for their proper management.

G. PATOULIS (President of KEDE): There is no time to waste ...

In the news, the Region of Epirus was found a few days ago,  as the new ultramodern waste treatment plant in Eleftherochorion, Municipality of Dodoni, was commissioned (ypodomes.com) as a project of the year 2018!
Indeed, there have been significant steps in our area in the management of solid waste, when in other regions fines from the EU have been made. for uncontrolled landfills fall rain!
But we still have a lot of lagging at source and recycling, which would bring significant benefits, both environmentally and economically, to local communities.
The "green spots"
In this direction, the role of the "green points" that are located in the municipalities of Epirus will be very important, with Zitsa even running the whole process in a rapid rhythm.
End of December, as announced Mayor of Mich. Piaggio the Dim. The Council gave the "green light" to submit a proposal for the inclusion and financing of the "Green Point" in the Operational Program "Transport Infrastructure, Environment and Sustainable Development", making the Municipality a pioneer in the implementation of all management structures waste.
With the completion and operation of "green points", collection costs and environmental pollution will be reduced, while natural resources will be saved.
Resources requested by KEDE
The management of waste is an issue of utmost importance for local authorities throughout the country, which is why the Central Union of Municipalities of Greece (KEDE) the day before yesterday meeting, attended by assoc. Environment Minister S.. Famellos asked to provide the necessary financial "tools" in the local government to stop Greece from being a wasteful problem in the management of solid waste. "There is no time to waste," said G. Patoulis, President.
The members of the Board of Directors of the Union stressed that it is a prime necessity and a major issue to ensure timely and adequate funding of municipalities for the logistical equipment needed to achieve the recycling targets.
At the same time, the lack of personnel and reception facilities for bio-waste has been identified as a major problem.
In this context, they expressed their concern to Mr Famello regarding the timing of the new pricing policy, both for bio-waste and for recyclable materials.
In particular, they requested that they not be implemented as of 1 July 2019, as envisaged in the draft law, but when the operational plans of the recyclable materials management systems have been completed and therefore the required funding will be secured.
The FEDA
At the same time, the KEDE asked the Minister to review the institutional framework of the FACSA, relying also on the already expressed positions of the Union that would result in malfunctions and dead ends if implemented as of 19 January 2019, as envisaged in the draft law .
The meeting was also attended by the Chairman of the Environment Committee of KEDE S. Chionides, who focused on the need to consult with specific timetables and to provide the necessary financial tools to the Local Government and EAN President D. Politopoulos.
According to a KEDE announcement, S. Famelos has left open the possibility of applying the new pricing policy for recycling a few months later than expected.

Mr. Famelos informed the Chairman and the members of the Board of Directors. for the two basic arrangements provided by the new institutional framework and relating to the new pricing policy for recycling, but to strengthen the cyclical economy by preventing landfill.
It should be noted that an open consultation is open.gov for the two regulations of the Ministry of the Environment, which amend the municipal pricing policy and municipal fees and seek to strengthen recycling and the cyclical economy.
